When one or two are arriving at La Paz International Airport, it is less expensive to take a group taxi-van in from the airport -- about $15.00 per-person. If more than two persons, a private taxi might be less expensive. It is expensive arriving but when departing it is easy to find a local taxi for about 1/2 the price -- it all averages out. Tipping taxi drivers is not all that common in Mexico.

La Casa Mexicana Inn - Spanish-Deco Inn in La Paz, Baja

Here are directions for you when driving to La Paz from the south (Cabo San Lucas, etc.):

You enter the city on Blvd. Forjadores (4-6 lane, divided) which has lots of stop lights.

Forjadores becomes Isabela la Catolica and also becomes 3 lanes, going one way (hopefully yours). Keep on going through three more stop lights. At the third stop light (with the large CCC grocery store on your left) be in the left lane and turn left there, onto Calle Bravo (one way) and follow Bravo all the way down to the bay (about 15 blocks).

When arriving by car from the north (or from La Paz Airport):

Continue on the winding Hwy. 1, on the 2-lane highway as it becomes 4-6 lanes (at times) and then 2 lanes again as you actually enter the city. You will pass directly through about 6 stop-light intersections (some quite small) before coming to the beach/waterfront on your left. A few blocks further, on the right, is Hotel Los Arcos. At the end of this hotel, turn right onto Rosales, go up just two blocks, turn left onto Madero, go one block and then turn left again onto Calle Bravo (one-way, heading back down toward the bay, back nearly two blocks).

LA CASA MEXICANA INN is on your right side of Calle Bravo (one block from bay) -- you'll see the Bay directly in front of you; we've an unusual entrance/sidewalk and beautiful doorway -- can't miss the Inn! Feel free to park in our green zone in front of the inn (or anywhere else not painted green or red).

Helpful Driving Suggestions:
When you see a car coming in your direction with emergency lights flashing, this means there is a problem in the road ahead of you -- take caution for some time. If a truck signals his left-turn signal, this generally means it is safe for you to pass. Cows can be a problem and dangerous on the road but horses are even more threatening. Please use a lot of caution when passing a horse that is grazing alongside the highway -- they will often bolt and run in front of you without apparent cause.

Have a happy trip, drive with care, arrive before dark, and

BIENVENIDOS a LA CASA MEXICANA!
